"Restricted Permissions" sending item to Onenote

K

Ken Sheppardson

I'm running Outlook 2003 connected to my Exchange mailbox on our SBS
2003 server and just installed OneNote 2007 B2 on two different
machines. Whenever I try to send any email message to OneNote on either
machine using the little OneNote icon that was added to the Standard
Outlook in the main window toolbar during OneNote installation I get
the message:

"This Outlook item has restricted permissions and cannot be sent to
OneNote."

I've also notice that the "Sent to OneNote" icon is grayed out when I
have an individual message open.

As far as I know the messages weren't explicitly restricted in any way,
and we're not running any IRM as far as I know. (I could be wrong, if
something's installed on SBS out of the box.)

Anybody know what's going on?

Probably an incompatibility between the two versions.

Yeah, that's what I figured. :) However, I was under the impression
that "Send to OneNote" should work just fine in Outlook 2003 [1].
However Is there a reason why you're using OneNote 2007 but Outlook 2003?

There are several...

1) I've heard I may have trouble sync'ing my Treo with Outlook 2007 and
I'm not really prepared to open that can of worms
2) I use Agendus for Outlook [2], which doesn't work with Outlook 2007
3) I live in Outlook. I only "visit" OneNote. That is, I'm prepared to
deal with beta issues and instability in OneNote, but not with Outlook.
4) Outlook 2003 and OneNote 2007 are advertised as compatible (again,
see [1])

Hmmm...well, this is a beta so maybe it'll work better in the release version?
Unfortunately I don't have any mixed version installs so I can't test it.
There are several...

Fair enough.

Ken, this works for me (OLK 2003 to ON 2007 b2).

Can you file a bug please?
