restricted site asks for password AGAIN when submitting email form

We have an Intranet site that we have restircted to domain users. The site
is on a Windows 2003 server in a Windows 2000 domain. We have security setup
so that users outside the company firewall/network must provide username and
password with authentication against the AD.

This works in that when you connect to the site you are prompted for your
credentials, however when you fill out the simply form to send an email to
the helpdesk that was created you are asked to provide your credentials again
when you hit submit.

Anyone have an idea as to why and how to allow the submission once the user
has authenticated to connect to the site? Of course inside the
firewall/network this is not an issue because the user is logged into the
domain and that information is passed when they go to the site and when they
hit submit.

Thanks in advance....

JTT

Hi JTT,

This issue seems closely related to the way you configured the security for this site. Is it a FPSE 2002 site?

As I know, when you submit a form on FPSE 2002 site, it turns to the "shtml.dll" file under the "_vti_bin" folder to handle the request. What
are the authentication method you configured for this folder and this file?

Also, you may checking the related IIS logss for any authentication records. So you may locate the file on the site that triggers the
authentication prompts.

I hope the information helps.

Jason-

This is a FPSE 2002 site. I currently have Anonymouse disabled and I'm
using the Integrated Windows Authentication with Digest Authentication for
Windows domain servers selected for the site.

Hi JTT,

I noticed you enabled both Anonymous and Integrated Windows Authentication on the "_vti_bin" directory. Is it possible to grant the
"_vti_bin" directory only "Integrated Windows Authentication" and then check the results?

Also, have you tried to check the related IIS log to see if there is any records for the authentication prompt? That may give us a clue about
which file is requiring the extra authentication.

Furthermore, for troubleshooting, you may try changing the form results from e-mail to a file within the site. Does the same issue occur?

I hope the information helps.
