Retain Selective Formatting On One Field

Hi

I'm using Word XP and have a mail merge field (the data in this field is quite substantial) that uses a lot of different formatting, e.g. underlining on certain words, numbered and bulleted items using hanging indents. I want all this formatting to be retained when the field is merged, what is the best way to go about this?

Hi MG,

Not entirely clear what the problem is: character formatting (eg bold,
italics, underline) in the source not being carried over, or mergefield
formatting in the target is being lost.

AFAIK, character formatting in the source is not carried over.

If you want to apply formatting to individual mergefields, add a CHARFORMAT
switch to the mergefield and format the 'M' in 'MERGEFIELD' to the required
format. Note that this format will apply to the whole mergefield - you can't
have more than one format in a given mergefield.

Cheers

Hi

Yes, it is the character formatting from the source data that is not being carried over. Is there anyway to get this carried over?
