Retaining Actual Work

There is an area of my organization that has stored .mpp files and a local
resource pool on a shared drive. They have published information to the
server without importing the plans so that they reside on the server.
Resources currently go into PWA and updated timesheets, but nothing resides
on the server.

Now, we are trying to help them import their resources and projects to the
server. I notice that when a project is imported to the server (so that it
goes from a .mpp file to a .published) that already contains some actual
work, a problem occurs. When a resource goes into PWA and submits time for a
task on this plan and the project manager updates, all of the previous actual
work is deleted. Is there a way that we can import this plan and retain the
actual work that resided in the plan before it was .published?

Thank you

When you import the projects, you must republish all assignments, and check
the box to overwrite actuals in resources' timesheets.

Thanks, Reid. Am I right in saying that you must turn off managed periods in
order for this to work? If so, is there a way to accomplish this with
managed periods turned on?

Thanks again,
