Retaining Backgrounds when moving pages to a different document

Hi

Every time I transfer pages to another document it loses the backgrounds that I have put on (or taken off) and reverts back to the template of the document I am putting it into. I know there is the 'insert slide' and 'keep design of original slides' option but I work on a Mac and the easiest and most popular way to move slides is to copy and paste. Does anyone know how to retain the background when doing it this way?

Yes, there is a way.
Drag and drop the slide thumbnail from
the slide sorter pane of your target presentation
to the slide sorter pane of your destination presentation.
When you do so, you should see a little clipboard-looking
icon pop up right around the slide thumbnail you just
pasted. Click on this icon and select "Keep Source
Formatting". This method will not only retain the background,
it should retain the entire slide master for that slide,
meaning the fonts, the theme, the colors.

I believe that this method works the same for both
Windows and Mac versions of PowerPoint.
