Retaining New Macros

Hi, When I create a macro, saving either to Normal.dot, or to all active docs
and templates, it disappears once the document used during the creation of
the macro is closed. No new macros are available to me when I open a new
document, nor if I reopen the original document once closed. I've checked all
the help, but I cannot even see my own macros, let alone enable them.

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If so, the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents
Word from automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template
(which is where Word stores macros unless you tell Word
otherwise). Create the macros again, and click "Shift+File |
Save All" to force Word to save the normal.dot template.
Alternatively, you can prevent the add-in from loading as
described in the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm , but
you'll lose the PDF toolbar if you do this.

Thanks so much! I've had a chance to try the "Shift+ Save All" and it worked
like a charm! Saved my custom toolbar, too, which it didn't before.

The normal.dot template stores macros, toolbars, keyboard
shortcuts, styles, autotext entries, and formatted autocorrect
entries. If you modify/customize any of these, then the
Shift+File|SaveAll method will save your changes.

And another very satisfied customer!

Thanks Garfield, I've had the identical problem
