Retention of row-collapsed view for printing/copying?

Is there a method to save a Gantt view with a captured arrangement of
collapsed and expanded tasks without committing to it for daily viewing
forevermore? Specifically, there are views that I favor for printing
or copying that are largely, but not wholly, collapsed. I would like to
preserve these views without sacrificing the flexibility to expand and
collapse any desired task at any time.

Hi Poster,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You could try View/More Views.../Gantt Chart/Copy. Give it a new name and
then change the view to your needs. You could put your new view onto a tool
button if you wish.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))

Following your instructions, I created a copy of the Gantt.
Disappointingly, it appears to be linked to the original in the sense
that every task I collapse or expand on the copy is manipulated
identically in the original, and vice versa. What might I be missing?

Oooooooooooooooops, sorry, you're right - I gave you a bum steer - should
have retired to bed. :( It would work with filters, sort etc., but
apparamtly not collapsing. In which case I can't think of a way to do what
you want, though it might be possible with vba code. You could try posting
on the project.developer newsgroup.
