Retrieve object values within shapesheet

I use Visio 2003 to create *.svgz files in which custom properties are used.
I'd like to write a function for a MS command button to retrieve the value of
a MS treeview control selected item/key. The retrieved value will then be
used in the command button's custom property.

I looked at the MS webiste and I don't see an answer for my shapesheet
question. Thanks for your input.
