The subject may say it all, but it doesn't help. The key is not retrievable,
it is a sticker on the install CD. If you don't have the CD you can contact
Microsoft with proof of purchase and they may issue another for nominal
cost. Other than that, you are out of luck.

What I should have said in the OP is I don't have my original CD (which was
legitimately purchased), just my backup copy.
I'll give them a call and depending on what they consider "nominal" cost to
be, I may do it-- or it's helloooo Open Office ;-)
