Retrieving a previous saved document

I had a document saved and then I was using this document as a template to write a new document, however I ended up saving the changes I made to the original document which made me lose all the original information. I was wondering if there was a way to undo a save or get back to the previously saved version I had an hour ago.

Hi,

do you have Time Machine enabled? If so, you can use it to go back in time
and retrieve the template. Also, did you really create a template, or did
you simply use a regular document and then use File>Save As to create new
documents? If so, consider saving the document as a template instead; if you
double-click a template, a new document based on that template will open,
thus leaving the original template document unaffected.
