Retrieving unsave edits

I did a lot of editing to a word document and accidently
deleted it before saving it. The edits were gone...is
there a way the unsaved edits can be retrieved before
exiting the document?

If the document is still open and you have just deleted the content (which
is one reading of your message), then use Undo (repeatedly if necessary) to
recover the content, then save the document.
