Setting Permission to import.pst files

I need help in retriving .pst files from another drive. When I go to use the
Import retrive I get a message that I do not have permission. How do I set
the permission?

Why don't you just copy it from one drive and paste it to the other and
then use Outlook to open it with File/Open/Outlook data file?

Well first do NOT use import.
Why not?

Importing an entire PST may well corrupt your profile and may create a ghost
PST that you can't close. Importing PST's will lose:
1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Secondly, it's not wise to open a pst file across a network, so copy the pst
file to your HDD, remove any read-only attribute, then in Outlook do
File-Open-Outlook Data File.

Can you copy the pst-file from the other drive to your own Documents folder?
If so, reconnect the pst-file via File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

When I try copying I get Access is denied, make sure that this is not fully
or write protected and that the file is not currently in use

Outlook 2007 Error Message: Access Denied Make sure that this is not fully or write protected and that the file is not curnetly in use. My .pst folder data is currentluy on D drive which I just use to back up from C. There is no OS system installed on D.

So your issue is not with Outlook but you need to know how NTFS permissions
within Windows work ;-)
In short; take ownership of the file and then set appropriate permissions
for yourself. After that, copy it to the locations where you want it to be.
Here is a quick overview;

How did you create this "backup"?
