Retroactively sort sent items

How do I retroactively sort sent items to remove duplicates from my sent
folder? I am on several distribution lists to which I must reply and receive
emails that I've already sent. I was previously filing these items in the
Sent folder, but now have the need to separate duplicate items. Third-party
plugins provide this functionality, but they do not differentiate between
sent and received items, so are not all-inclusive in the sorting. Rules work
fine for new incoming items, but when applied retroactively also pick up the
original sent items. I need to separate the duplicate sent/received items and
move them to a new folder by some other means like setting priorities
including the internet headers or metadata.

I actually already purchased Duplicate Email Remover from MAPI which is the
"third-party plugin" I was referring to. The real problem is differentiating
between sent and received duplicates with minute differences in metadata and
internet headers. Thanks for the reply.
