Return envelope edge

I use 2007 Word. The printed return address edge is about 3/4 inch from the
edge of the envelope. I tried changing the left edge (to .2") in the option
window, it appeared to change. But, when I printed the envelope, it went
back to 3/4 inch. Is it possible to print closer to the envelope edge?

I assume you're using the Envelopes and Labels dialog and that you've tried
clicking Options, and then changing From left: for the Return address to
something other than Auto. Here, the lowest I can set it is .4", which what
I get if I leave it set at Auto.

One possibility is that any closer to the edge is in the non-printable
region for your printer.

If it's not, then one possible resolution is to choose Add to Document,
manually adjust the left edge, and then print.

If that produces the desired result, then your best option for future
envelopes might be to create an envelope and save it as a template. Begin in
a blank document, create an envelope with your return address but a blank
To: address, adjust the margins as needed, and then save that envelope as a
template for future envelopes you need to print.

Yes, I am using the Envelopes and Labels dialog. The printer does not have a
non-printable area because I can use Stamps.com to print the return address
that is closer to the edge (as it should be).

I have manually adjusted the left edge and print. The result is the front
part of the return address was chop off. It's as though there is a margin
set by Word????

I've also downloaded sample envelope template from MVP site, added the
return address and print. I got the same result, 3/4" from the edge. ????

The envelope templates on my web site are set with a left margin of 1.9 cm
(3/4"). If you want the return address closer to the edge either change the
left margin (set it a zero then fix the margins at the resulting error
prompt - which will set it at the minimum available for the current printer
driver) or apply a negative indent to the Envelope Return paragraph style.

From your templates, using cntl-p, I set the left edge to zero. The
correction prompt after the fix, show .66". So, it must be the minimum edge.

Will applying the negative indent to the Envelope Return paragraph style
changed the mimum?

No. The minimum is the minimum allowed by the printer driver. If the printer
will accept the envelope in either direction, you *may* be able to use
landscape instead of portrait to give you some more flexibility or you *may*
be able to fool the printer by using a larger standard page size (even A4 or
Letter) and making up the difference with margins.
