Return Value of Text Box

Can anyone tell me what the return value of an unbound text box is if there
is a value that has been typed in it? For example criteria for a query.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know, I know, I am replying to my own post. I found the answer myself.

The value returned if information is entered into the unbound text box is
something > -1.

I tried it before I posted, I promise and it didn't work, I had mistyped
something and tried again and it worked.
