1. Copy those tasks to a new blank project, ensuring that you are
copying the task name and dependencies. In the new project, you would
adjust task details (duration, resource assignments, etc).
2. Same as #1 but then save that file as a template, so you can reuse
it easily.
Thanks for the suggestion to clarify further, I vaguely remember using some
scheduling application, don't remember what it was, where I could have a
group of tasks for example a review/approval cycle and I could just insert
them wherever I needed. Not a complete project, just 5-10 tasks that always
occur in the same order.
Dean: this is how I do this. I use XML files a phase files. Here are the
steps.
1. copy the section of project that you want to reuse to a new project.
besure to remove baselines and anyother unneed information on this tasks in
the new project.
2. do a file save as and save this file as a XML file in your library folder.
3. close this file.
You are now ready to use your new phase library XML file. Here are the steps.
1. open your new project you wish to insert the new phase into.
2. then goto File/Open
3. Select a file type of XML
4. Now select your XML Phase libarry file
5. On the next screen which is the import dialog select the Appended radio
button
6. Click the finish button
Your new phase should be appended to the bottom of you schedule.
This can save you alot of typing when boilerplating shcedules.
Hope this helps.
