Reverse Engineer Access with BackEnd Tables

Hi,

I have been trying to find an answer to this and have been unsuccessful
to date.

Access: 2000 using backend tables linked to Main DB.
Visio: 2003 Pro Version

When attempting to rev-eng a DB that contains LINKS to the BackEnd
tables the wizard does not include them in the Rev-Eng options. All
that are included are the queries that reside in the top level DB and
not the associated tables. At first I thought it to be a permissions
issue, but that was not the case.

I have been beating my head against this issue for several days without
resolution. So, if anyone has had any experience with this please let
me know the steps I need to take to resolve the issue.

Thanks,
gg

As the tables do not actually exist in the front end, you will have to
connect to the back end databse to reverse engineer.

David,

Thanks for the response..
Is there a method to "connect" to the backend from the front end (other
than linking to the tables) so that I can see the entire picture in
one place in Visio? I currently have several backend DB's due to the
Access size limitations..

Thanks,
gg

Unfortunately, I don't think that you can link several data sources in a
database model diagram.
They would have to be different documents.

Well That's just wrong:)

They (MS) want you to keep the databases split so that you can be more
efficient.
And by that same logic, now you become more inefficient because you
cannot get a cohesive view of all the peices:)

I guess I will need to patch the peices together. I thought I was
missing some very basic understanding of Visio.

Thanks Again David. I appreciate your time.
