What is the context? Is this a term you have found somewhere in the Word
interface? Word Help? A homework question?

Hi Bob,

I have a portfolio to complete for college, and the term
Reverse Type is included.

I have to create a document that includes, Drop Cap,
Columns, Reverse Cap etc etc

from what I gather when reading up about this topic, "Reverse type"
seems to mean white text on black background ...

You CAN do that in Word by various means (use a frame, textbox, table
cell with a dark background and use a light font color; or even format
an ordinary paragraph in this manner).

FWIW, if used in professional printing, I guess folks would like to use
overprinting in such a scenario, something Word does not offer directly
AFAIK ...

Note that when you are reversing type out of a dark background, it is
recommended (for greatest readability) that the type be (a) fairly large,
(b) Bold, and (c) preferably sans serif.
