reversed shading on JPEG images

When viewed on screen JPEG images that print correctly in
other apps, have a problem when printed. Specifically,
the shaded image (logo) appears with the lighter portion
at top, when the darker portion should be at the top. It
doesn't happen when the image is converted to a bitmap,
but then the image quality is poor. Thanks for your help.
