Reversing a letter?!

C

Chris

Hi all.

Ok, I have asked this already, but I didn't get a response
I was hoping for. Basically, it SEEMS that this is not
possible, but I would really like to be sure. What I want
to do is this:

Type a letter (Let's say in MS Word 2002) and then MIRROR
it. In other words, I just want to reverse it! Say I
wanted to do this to an "R". The only suggestion I got
was to make an "R" in a photo editor and then mirror it.
After that, copy and paste into Word.

This can't possibly be the only way to do this!!! I find
it hard to believe that MS has produced God only knows how
many versions of Office and has never thought of having a
function to do this. Can anyone please help? This is
important. I'd appreciate it, all! Thanks a million!

If it doesn't need to be inline, you can insert WordArt and use the
Draw menu to flip it.

Hi Chris,

There are mirror fonts available that show the letters
in Reverse
http://www.fontseek.com/cgi-bin/fsearch.pl?search=mirror
and some printer drivers allow you to print
the page as a mirror image in the printer properties.

Generally, beyond that you're looking at something
Word's designers consider to be agraphics function
rather than a text function and some methods for doing
this as a graphic or wordart object have been mentioned in other replies.

Depending on your printer, if you want a mirror image for
transfer on a T shirt, etc, the printer will do it for
you. Example HP deskjet 5550, if you choose hp iron-on-T-
shirt transfers as paper type, it automatically prints a
mirror image. I think most printers nowadays have this
facility.

The easiest way is to insert that letter (or word, phrase, etc.) as WordArt.
Then, on the Drawing toolbar, choose Draw - Rotate or Flip - Flip
Horizontal.
