Revert back to Office XP from 2007 without CD

I'm a diligent anti-pirate consumer. I purchased Office XP Standard student
edition a few years ago. Earlier this year, I bought Office Home and Student
2007, installing over XP.

I hate Office 2007! I've tried for 6 months to get used to the ribbon, but I
still can't find anything! I desparation, I've converted all my .docx files
to .doc, etc (for all applications), ready to reinstall original Office XP.

But, now I've done that, I can't find the disc! The disc I have (and thought
was Office XP install) is "Step by Step Interactive Training". I've got the
book, my activation code, everything else! Just not the original install disc.

Is there any way I can roll back my Office experience because 2007 is
driving me nuts! As I said, I've paid for these packages over-the-counter in
full, stretching my student budget but doing the right thing. Really hope I
can find a satisfactory solution.

Thanks, Luke.

Are you vision-impaired? If it's taken you six MONTHS not to find ANYTHING
then I suggest you pack up your computer and exchange it for an abacus and
an electric typewriter. that's the most STUPID statement I've heard to date.

Are we having a bad day Gordon? While the OP may not have expressed
themself as well as they might, I would have to suggest you failed to read
well, not the OP.

I thought the Op was fairly explicit, actually.

Do you have the license and a friend with the same version? If yes, then
borrow the CD and install it. The license will allow it.

You can also make a copy of the disk and use that as your backup copy. But
it must be the same retail version of Office XP for Students and Teachers.

Sorry, I tried to keep my initial post brief. I've been using Word (or works
as it was) since I was 10. I'm now 28. I've commited most commands to memory.
I'm not a touch-typer in the true sense - my fingers go all over the place.
But I'm very very quick, and type use keyboard strokes for everything. Having
memorised most commands, and then sometimes just using quick alt-letter
strokes to navigate through the menus, I'm one of the many users that is
frustrated that in introducing the ribbon Microsoft completely did away with
the menus. Why not introduce one, and keep the old along-side?!?

This is what I'm banking on... wondered if there was any other way however.
I've asked friends to ask their friends. So far have uncovered Office XP, but
not students and teachers ed. I've also discovered two free alternatives to
the rort (Classic Menus for Office 2007 - only $30 for 2 years! - if an
external programmer can do it, why can't Microsoft!?) - one requires me to
embed macros to restore some semblance of the menus for Word, Excel and
Powerpoint. The other is a little add-in (which I can then place in the
quick-access toolbar for quick reference), but that's only for Word.
