Can I convert an Access 2000 database back to Access 97,
and, if so, should I expect problems? Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can convert. See the Tools>>Database Utilities menu.

Expect problems is you have features in your A2000 database that did not
exist in Access 97.

If you have multiple versions of Access installed on your PC, you may encounter one
problem in particular. I have Access 97, 2000 and 2002 on my PC. Typically, my databases
in the Access 2000 file format include a reference to the DAO 3.6 Object
Library(dao360.dll). I find that when I convert down to Access 97, this reference is not
reset to the DAO 3.51 Object Library (dao350.dll). It works fine on my PC, because there
is no missing reference problem. However, I've been bitten more than once when I send the
file to someone who only has Access 97, and they receive the infamous missing reference
error.
