Revert to document

I'm getting a lot of "do you want to revert to document" lately.

Reminds me of the annoying revert to normal thing. Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks!

Revert To Saved isn't but should be an option in the File menu.

You don't think this would cause massive discontent and unhappiness among
the many people who would probably click it by accident, or not knowing what
it meant? And then discover it wiped out all their changes?

You can get the same functionality by checking "always make backups" in
Prefs | Save, or with the Undo key, can't you?

Anyway, I now understand this annoying message clearly.
Is there anyway to keep it from popping up. It seems to be relentless
lately, with just about every document.
Thanks!!

I want to mention again, that this message comes up even though there is no
other version open.

That's decidedly odd. It should not be happening when there is no other
version of the document open. Unfortunately I'm stumped as to what the
solution might be.

Clues, anyone?

[Sorry I've been away for a couple of days; only just got to read your
earlier request.]

Could you post your OS, Word version, updates status etc? Thanks.

Yes,
Thanks Clive

I'm on OS 10.2.6
Word X, service rel 1

Yes, in fact, how often would someone open up a document , with the same
exact file name, that is already open. What are the scenarios for that
anyway?
Thanks!

It happens quite often for me -- but then I'm always clicking out of Word
with my Option key held down, on to the desktop, and looking in open folders
for Word files related to what I'm working on (previous versions, papers
that provide info for the present doc, etc etc). And given the *horribly*
untidy state of my desktop (same as my unvirtual-reality desktop) it's no
wonder that I end up thinking "Ah, that's where I'll get something!" and
clicking a document -- that's already open!

So, if there was some incredulity in your imagining a possible scenario, be
incredulous no longer! :^)

Cheers,

Clive
