Reverting to Entourage 2004 from Entourage 2008

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop I should like to revert to using Office 2004 instead of Office 2008 which I find slow and complicated. Both programmes are installed on my computer. To remove Office 2008 I need to move from Entourage 2008 to Entourage 2004. How do I do that please?

Thank you. Sorry for the delay in replying- I was at a conference in Glasgow last week. I am still keen to revert back to Office 2004. Can you give me further advice please. Presumably I open Entourage 2008 and export from there? How do I create an .rge file please? I would not uninstall 2008 until I had successfully got 2004 working.

Many Thanks,

John Murray.

Hi John,

to create an Entourage archive, click on File>Export and choose to export
your items to an Entourage archive. The resulting .rge file can then be
imported into Entourage 2004 via the File>Import dialogue. I can only repeat
what Diane has already written before me; Entourage 2008 is a clear
improvement on its predecessor, and it might be worth finding out what is
slowing down the application. Or were you talking about the other
applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)? By the way, you can have Office
2004 and Office 2008 on your Mac at the same time without running into any
trouble (provided that you do not run both versions of Entourage at the same
time).

I'm not sure why you are reverting to 2004. Unless you run VBA I think
this is not a wise move. 2008 is no more difficult that 2004 plus it
is native Intel and is way faster on a numbe of fronts such as search.

Be very careful if you do and don't remove 2008 as somehow they can be
interlinked. When I went to 2008, I decided to remove 2004 and
Microsoft told me I could and when I did 2008 didn't work. There was
something in common they both used and had to re-install 2008.

However, I'd carefully ask youself why you want to revert. The only
reason that I can possibly think of reverting is for VBA. Issues 2
years ago when 2008 came out that did cause some to revert have now
gone away. Nothing actually to do with Office but the evolution of
handhleds.
