Hi Ken
At Tools > Templates and Add-ins, do you have any files listed under Global templates and add-ins?
I've been playing around trying to work out how this could come about. My guess is that the mysterious Allan Stratton has left an
un-accepted tracked change in an add-in.
Add-ins can be loaded when Word starts if they are stored in the folder given at Tools > Options > File Locations > Startup. So to
test my theory, you could exit Word, use Windows Explorer to move all the files in that folder to another folder somewhere else.
Then re-start Word. Is Mr Stratton still with you? If not, put those files back one by one until you find the one that triggers the
arrival of Mr Stratton.
If that doesn't work, then exit Word, find normal.dot (it will be in the folder shown at Tools > Options > File Locations > User
Templates). Re-name it as OldNormal.dot, then re-start Word. Any luck there?
This is very curious. Do please come back here to let us all know how you get on!
