Reviewing a Word 2003 Track Changes doc in Word 2007

Hi All - Weird problem here. We received a 73 page Word 2003 document with
tracked changes. When we open the document in Word 2003, everything looks
fine - all the tracked changes are showing up perfectly. When we open it in
Word 2007, however, the entire last half of the document shows up with
strikeout as if it had been deleted. There seems to be a compatability
problem between the two versions. Any suggestions on where to start with
this problem? Thanks!

I haven't encountered issues using tracked changes for documents created in
Word 2003 (or earlier versions) and revised in Word 2007 and I've been using
tracked changes daily on large documents for the last 7-8 months.

Who is the deletion attributed to? You or a previous author? Are there
multiple authors for the document? What happens if you open the document
using the "Open and Repair" command? This is found in the Open dialog box -
click the arrow next to the Open button to find it.

Thanks for your response. The document came from an outside source, so I
don't know if there were multiple reviewers or not. We have not added any
changes outselves yet. The deletion came from the outside source. I don't
seem to have an Open and Repair option - just Open. The redline version of
the document is RTF, and I've tried Converting it using the Convert button
and I've tried saving it as both a DOC and DOCX document, all to no avail.
The deletion of half the document still shows up in Word 2007, but not 2003.
I was able to Reject the change to get around this issue, but if anyone has
any ideas as to why it would happen, I would love to hear them because we use
this feature all the time. Thanks again!

Since the format of the original is RTF that could be a factor - those I've
worked on have all been .doc formats.

The Open and Repair option is in the Open dialog box: select the document to
open, click the arrow next to the Open button in the dialog box and then
click Open and Repair.
