Hi:

Is there a way to set RGB colors in V.X Graph?

TIA for any advice.

I've honestly not seen Office v. X in years, but I don't believe it's all
that different from 2004. When you go to the Format [whatever] dialog & open
the color list select "More... Colors" & you should find an RGB Slider as
well as other color models to select from.

Nope, not in "Graph", but thanks for replying.

I need to upgrade. Is the interface for 2008 like the PC version 2007, which I really don't like - too different - no File, Edit, View, etc. If so I may just go with 2004.

Thanks!

I'd have guessed not also. But 'tis.

And that's one o' the differences. ;-)

PPTX graphs are pretty much like those in PPT pre-2007 versions.

As in: lousy control over colors in graphs. ;-)

Each chart has a color palette that you can modify:

With the graph active, choose Graph | Preferences | Color tab

Pick the color you want to change, click Modify.

There ya go.

Only problem is that this is strictly a per-chart deal; you can't set
defaults for new charts or anything like that.

But you can set up the colors you want in one chart, then copy it to
other slides and modify it as needed.

Sorry, but the replies from Steve should prove useful :)

As for the 2008 UI, no, it is more along the lines of what's being referred
to as the "Classic" UI - Menus & Toolbars rather than the Ribbon. Two
differences to adjust to, though, are that the Standard Toolbar is
permanently docked in the document window & a feature called the Elements
Gallery has been added. The Gallery can be collapsed to reveal only buttons
but it can't be completely turned off.

Another consideration may be that Office 2004 is no longer being produced,
so it may be a bit hard to find... and by the terms of typical MS product
life expectancy support for it will quite likely be dropped [meaning no more
updates] within the next year. If you don't *need* VBA support you'd
probably do better to go with Office 2008 - or wait for the next release
(but there's no idea about a planned release date).

If you want to know more about 2008 go to:

Sorry, one further question about the upgrade.

Can I install 2008 and still have V.x available - want to be able to fall back during the learning curve.

Thanks!

Yes, multiple versions of Mac Office can be installed concurrently. In fact,
you can run the X & 2008 apps at the same time. You just need to make a
decision about which version of Entourage you want to use & stay with it...
once you upgrade to Entourage 2008 you can't simply swap between the two.
