Rick Fisher Find/replace

I need to rename a table, and then change all forms, queries, etc to
reflect the new name. I searched, and found Rick Fisher's
Find/Replace utiltiy.

But, when I tried to download it, Firefox (v3.0) would crash. Thought
it was Firefox, so tried with IE7. Same thing. One hint I got of the
problem was that I saw some reference to officeav.dll (I have Norton
AV). Seems like that causes a problem.

I searched, and saw references to having to disable officeav.dll. But,
why would a person have to? Isn't that the whole point of having
antivirus?

So, whats the recomendation of the group, disable officeav.dll (the
office sanning part of Norton), or skip this utility?

Thanks, Josh

typically if you Right click the Table icon and use the "rename" option this
typically updates all forms and reports so they still work
Also check out the "object Dependancies" option when you right click your
table icon it will let you know everything that will be affected by your name
change..
if it goes debunkt thange the table name back and all will be well to
explore other options

Good luck

I thought that was only if you checked "track name autocorrect" in
options? I had unchecked that long ago, I thought I read somewhere
that checking it causes problems?

Thanks, Josh

Correct. Furthermore the AutoCorrect doesn't work in VBA code.

Just as a follow-up for anyone interested. Aalthough attempting to
download the Find/replace utiiltiy was the first instance where
officeav.dll crashed both IE7 and firefox, in the past couple of days
I've had the same thing happen when trying to download a couple of
other non-access related files. It is still only occasionaly that it
happens, but not confined to the Find/replace utility. Seems that for
me, something is wrong with Norton's officeav.dll. Hadn't happened
before, so maybe Norton gave me a "new and improved" officeav.dll
through their update.

In my experience, and that of many others, there are LOTS AND LOTS of things
wrong with Norton's software in general and with officeav.dll in particular.
Norton used to have top-notch antivirus software, but lately it's fallen on
very hard times.
