In cell a1 I have a drop down with 2 last names in it, Smith and Jones.
How can I get excel to put SMI or JON (the 1st 3 letters of their las
name) in A2 depending/respective on which last name I picked in cel
A1. Thanks in advance.

=Left(A1,3)
