Right Click STILL, after a year of updates, crashes Excel

I don't want to hear the excuses of why this is a Mac problem, not a Microsoft problem. Only Microsoft programs are crashing when you right-click inside any of them. I have lost SO MUCH WORK because of this. Why is it so difficult to fix this?

It's not broken. You system is broken. Right-click inside Excel 2004
works just fine on my 10.4 system.

Get over yourself. It's not about you.

We're just trying to help you. We're not making excuses. The problem is with
YOUR configuration, and is not a generic Mac or Microsoft problem. Follow
the trouble shooting steps offered, and report back with what you tried and
what happened.

As others have pointed out, this is not an Office issue but a matter of
local origin. You might try retrieving the OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update from
Apple's Downloads site. The Combos are far more comprehensive than what
Software Update delivers and may well resolve the problem:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html

It's also possible that your model of Mac may be in need of a firmware
update as well... check the Downloads site for any that might apply for your
model/vintage Mac.

Run Disk Utility -- Repair Disk Permissions after applying it, then shut
down for a minute or two before powering up.

Word and Exel Crashes

I discovered this morning that Word and Excel crashes when Sugar Sync is loaded.

The procedure I took was to prevent Sugar Sync from loading by removing it from the Login List (in preferences under 'Accounts', then rebooting my machine and starting up again.

Word and Excel worked perfectly after this.

On loading Sugar Sync manually, both microsoft programs crashed again when using right click.

I would suggest that you try removing all programs from startup logins and then add them sequentially to figure out if one of the programs is causing the crash.

Hope this help!

Thanks for the insight -- that particular program has also been identified
as a problem by others in separate posts to the newsgroups.

Hi

I have discovered that on my machine (iMac) that excel and word don't crash they simply stall when I right click on a document. If I close Sugar Sync, Word and Excel come back to normal and I can save my work.

Also if I run Sugar Sync after I run Word or Excel the problem stall (on right click) doesn't happen. Seems to me as if there is an communications interrupt conflict with one program grabbing control of something it shouldn't.. (I'm no programmer so can't say for sure).

SO for those out there having this program.. try closing programs around word and excel to see which one is conflicting. The fault suggests to me to be something like a program that has a network access function such as sugar sync.
