Right Control + <letter> causes outputs weird characters

Hello all,

I'm typing in Microsoft Word 2002 and some weird things are happening
with my _right-hand-side_ modifier keys, as follows.

***Keystroke: Output***

Ctrl+d: Old English 'eth' (like a backwards 6 with a line through it)
Ctrl+m: Greek "mu"
'(apostrophe): E with grave accent
/(slash): E with acute accent
Alt+f: Footnote

When I'm outside of Word, there is no problem. Any ideas? The language
bar at the bottom says "English, US" as usual.

Thanks a bunch!!

Rex
