Right tab bug?

Gee

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

The right align tab stop does not seem to work properly - it often seems to act like a center tab, which means the text then drops over to the next line. Kinda difficult to describe, but say I have:

Beans<tab>$10
Sausages<tab>$20

I set a right align tab stop at the right edge of the textbox so that my numbers neatly right align. What happens instead is I get some weirdness like:

Beans<tab> $
10

Sausages<tab> $2
0

It is very annoying. Anyone know of a fix?

a) Make sure that the text box is wide enough (and has small enough margins) to
accomodate the text (quick test: just stretch it a bit)

b) Make sure the text box is left-anchored and left-aligned
