Hi.
I have an odd problem: I am testing databases for conversion to Office
2003, and I received a database from an Office in another country. It
was secured, but I got the right MDW-file and the admin user and pass
and I got it working; I can now view and design the whole thing. I
imported the whole thing into a new database, so the database should be
without security (gave full rights to 'users'-group and cleared the
admin-pw). It seems fine, untill I try to open it in Access 2003: It
gives the same, old error "The user account doesn't have permissions to
convert or enable this database. etc.".
If I go to access 97 (in which the DB opens without a problem) and I
make (yet again) a new, blank database, and try (yet again) to import
the data/queries etc. from the (already unsecured) DB, all of a sudden
I get "You don't have the necessary permissions to use the
"p:\PATH\PATH\OBJECT.MDB" object. etc."
When I make a more or less blank database in Access97 and try to
convert it to Access2003 there is no problem (so it's not in the
MDW-files?)
Now, I've fiddled around with them MDW-files, so I'll try from scratch
again, but it seems odd to me that I can open a access97-file without
any sign of security but I cannot import data from that database in a
blank access97-database... Anyone any ideas how come?
PS the DEFAULT path for the mdw-files are:
ACCESS97: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SYSTEM.MDW
ACCESS2003: C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Access\system.mdw
correct?
Thx
