Good day,
We are using Web Access 2003
I load Risk number 1 and 2 onto Share point and the system gives me RISK
ID’s 1 and 2.
I then update RISK ID number 1 and 2, Share point keeps my numbers as per
left hand column.
I then load Risk number 3. I am now given a RISK ID of 5.
When I change "modify the settings" to show all, I am shown ID 1 to 5 , but
3 and 4 have CURRENT as NO.
Is there a way that I can keep my left hand numbering in sequence regardless
of what I do to the particular RISK ID.

This is normal behavior for SharePoint. Every modify or add of a
document increments the ID. So if you add a risk (Risk 1) and then
immediately edit it, the next risk will be 3. If you add a risk (Risk
3) and then edit it twice, the next risk you add will be ID 6.

So ID's are not gauranteed to be sequential, but they should be
unique.

This is only a problem with the out of box Issues and Risks list that come
with Project Server. The reason is that they have implemented history
tracking capability on Issues and Risks where by it keeps a record of each
edit of an issue or a risk as an historical record in the DB and gives it
its own unique ID.

If you want a sequential ID, you would need to create your own Issues and
Risks lists out of a standard custom list and not use the out of box Issues
and Risks. However, you then lose other features that MS have built into
those two lists like the ability to link the issue/risk to project tasks,
getting automatic emails sent to the assigned to user, ability to view
issues and risks indicators on projects, ability to view issues and risks in
PWA, etc.
