Risks of upgrading from Office for Mac 2004 to 2008?

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel if I download a trial Office 2008 for Mac and don't like it, can I revert to Office 2004? Does Office 2008 for Mac create .docx and .xlsx files and read ones created on PC?

Yes to both.

But Office 2011 is coming down the pike, due at the end of this year. I
would strongly advise you to wait for that version, so you do not lose
functions you currently have.

In the meantime, the free converter enables Office 2004 to read and write
..docx and .xlsx.

But make SURE Office 2004 is fully up-to-date first :)

Cheers
