rollover button as html from Image Ready

Hi
I have made a rollover button in Photoshop/Image Ready and optimised as html
file and graphic files. If I drag the html into Explorer it works fine!
Problem: I cannot implement it to work with FP?? I have tried different
approaches, inserting as a file and inserting as "advanced object/html" (by
copying and pasting the whole html code). It simply won't work.
Can anyone pls help me with this?

sure,
the easiest way to do this is output the image ready files all into a single
folder, then in FrontPage, hit file/ import/ folder and bring in the image
ready stuff.
open the html file in FrontPage and move any script from the head to just
below the <body> tag.

wherever you want to use the navigation bar just set your cursor in the page
and hit insert/ web component/ included content/ page (browse to the page
it's on and select it).

is this a whole nav bar or just a single button?

Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately I cannot make it work. I have now
output the IR files (html and graphics) in one folder (on my desktop), but
trying to import this in FP (2003) only results in an error (not possible to
import...) What can I possibly be doing wrong. (It's a single button)

You have to have your FP web/site opened first, the File | Import. If you want to bring the entire folder in you will see the option to add folder.

If it's just a single button and you've got two or three "states" such as
"normal", "hover", and "active" just import the files: file/ import/ file
browse to them and bring them into your site.

here's a snip from another MVP's post:
Since you are using FrontPage 2003 import the images into your local website
then use the FP 2003 behaviors to create your rollover. There are several
tutorials available including one from Microsoft at

Personally I prefer to use CSS instead of JavaScript and use plain text on a
background image. That way I only need to use two images on the page but
that is not something easy to do just using the FP CSS tools. If you want to

Hi Chris

Thanks for your answer. I find the FP 2003 behaviours a better way of
implementing roll over buttons - simply could not make the imported from
ImageReady work. I also found your suggested tutorial useful and has created
a clickable gif-animation by using these techniches.

BUT NEW PECULIAR PROBLEM: Pls. refer to web site www.cm-context.dk

There you see the clickable animation and the roll over button. The problem
is, that when I click the text below picture ("Klik for billed-kavalkade")
for opening the animation (bringing the still picture alive so to speak) the
animation is shown in the top left corner instead of the roll over button
(this being part of an included page with the menu). I have tried step by
step and the problem occurs only when making the roll over button in the
included page. No problem if only this button shows as a gif-file - with no
behaviour attached ???

Do you know what is "going on" ?? Please help.

perhaps if you change the image ID on both or one of the images and make
sure your "behavior" is modifying the right one.

Hi Chris

I have now changed both names on the gif files in the roll over button and
ID's in the 3 layers constituting the animation (a "click-layer", a layer
with still picture and a layer with gif animation). I cannot make it work. I
even tried to first implement the roll over button before the behavior
pattern and vice versa. No matter what I do the animation is shown in the
upper left corner where the roll over button is placed (this is as mentionned
an included page with the menu. And still it works ok if I do not make a roll
over button but just keeps it a single gif file.)

Could the problem be due to the fact that I apply 2 different behaviors to
the same layer?? To the "click layer" I have applied both an "unvisible
behavior" and a swap of pictures - both by clicking the "click layer". Pls.
notice: The swap generated by click of the click layer is of the 2 other
layers (the layer with the still picture and the layer wit gif animation). Is
this a problem??
