rollover hover buttons problem

I got this template from 1and1. I had to redo a couple rollover buttons
on this page below, References and News. I can't figure out how to get
the gray out from behind the buttons. If you click the link and then
refresh it you will see what I mean. I have tried adding red background
to the cell and red background to the table and still no good. I have
since put them both back to automatic. Can anyone tell me how to make
the gray go away? It's just those little things that really bug me. I
used Web Components, Hover button to do those two buttons.

Hover buttons? You know that they won't work on many people's systems
because they use Java to achieve their functionality, and most people do not
have the required Java engine installed?

Oops, they are a combination of hover buttons and image swaps, why both I don't know, but
the gray is from the hover button.

Does that question mean that you still don't see the gray and as far as
I know, Sun Java is installed and working fine.

No - it means I didn't look. But can you be certain that your visitors will
have the Java engine installed?

Personally, I would never ever ever use Java just to get a rollover....

Now that I have looked, I can say that I don't see the gray in IE6, and for
certain, I would never use Java for something as simple as that rollover.

Does it have interactive buttons, or an image swap behavior?

Highlight your picture (i.e. button), then select Dynamic HTML Effects
from the Format menu and follow the prompts. You must, of course have a
second graphic of exactly the same size available to designate as your
rollover button.
