Root Access

Ok here's the situation, since I initally installed my OS
software, i never used users, and i never had to log into
my computer at start-up. then I made a user the otherday
and logged in under him, and now I can't get back to the
original user I was using. the problem is the new user i
created can't access as much as the original one. Is there
a way to log in under a Root user or System Admin?
