'Root Web Busy' Message, But I Can't Find service.lck file :(

Mike

I'm getting the often-mentioned 'root web busy' message in FP 2000 ever
since my latest attempt to update my web page - yes, the dial up connection
failed during the upload.

Everywhere I've searched, the common fix seems to be to delete the
'service.lck' file under the '_vti_pvt' directory, however, I don't have
that directory or the file anywhere at any level on my server space. I
didn't delete any files by mistake, but I wonder if the FP 2000 extensions
have now become corrupted due to the interupted upload.

Any FP gurus out there who can help me out?

Thanks,

Mike

Do you have FTP access to your webserver? If you do you should be able
to go in, find the '_vti_pvt' directory then delete the 'service.lck'
file. The _vti_pvt' directory (and some others) aren't visible in
FrontPage but should be visible if you can log in using FTP.

Mike,

I haven't used the products that you mention to access a website that
has FrontPage Extensions, though when I access my web space via FTP all
the 'extra FrontPage directories' are visible using CuteFTP.
