Rotating an arrow - changing the center of rotation

L

liglin

When applying a rotate animation on an arrow the center of rotation
will be the center of the arrow. Can the center of rotation be set to
be the beginning of the arrow?

Thanks, hpa

Copy the arrow, and set the two arrows end to end.
Change the color of the second arrow to the background color or make it
transparent. Some people find it easier to do this at the end.
Group the two arrows, and apply the roatation to the group.
Bingo!

hpa,

I like the easy questions!.....

If you hold the down CTRL Key on the keyboard, then the centre of rotation will be the opposite end of the arrow. So in
your case click the arrow head while holding down the CTRL key to rotate around the beginning of the arrow.

This works in all versions of powerpoint.

Just making sure I understood this right -
I must have missed something either on the question or the answer.
When do you hold down control? When you create the arrow?
When you create the animation? When you start the animation?
If I hold down control when I click the arrow, it copies the arrow.

Something I'd never seen before, If I hold down contol when I hit "slide show"
the slide show animates in a quarter screen window, while the normal view
stays on the screen.

Pdek,

Got me! I've just re-read the question. I missed the crucial word 'animation', :)

You're correct, the only way of changing the animation rotate point is to group it with something else. I find any
autoshape will do, just giving it a no fill and no line color works a treat.

The small screen slideshow is documented here (I don't think microsoft document this hidden feature, but I have been
known to be wrong a few times!)

Thanks.
When I see your comments, I usually find out how little I really understand
about PPT. But this time I paniced - it looked like I didn't understand
anything at all!
No "Gotcha" intended.

Sincerely,
Pete

Pdek,

Hey...don't panic. You are obviously very knowledgeable when it comes to powerpoint. We like knowledgeable powerpoint
people here in this newsgroup.

You're very welcome. Stick around.
