Rotating an object in Office Mac 2008

Hi,

I have a problem rotating an object or a picture in word for mac 2008.

I have the object or picture selected, click on the toolbox icon at the top of the page, select size,rotation and ordering. I can click on the rotation icon but can select anything from the drop down menu.

Any pointers?

Hi Fred -

As to your 2nd question - you need to create a Section Break before and
after the page(s) you want to turn to landscape. Make sure your insertion
point is in that section, then change the page orientation via Page Setup.
Just be aware that *most* printers don't like to cooperate with such a
change so you'll probably have to print the document one part at a time.

The 1st question is more likely a matter of formatting the object if it is
something that can be rotated. You shouldn't have any difficulty rotating
objects depending on what type of "object" it is... Text Boxes, for example
cannot be rotated. Most probably, however, the object you want to rotate is
set to In Line with Text. If so it cannot be rotated unless you apply Text
Wrapping to it.

Select the object then take a look at the Wrapping group in the Formatting
Palette. If the Style: is set to In Line, change it to one of the other
choices in the list & you should then be able to rotate it.

You can also go into the Format> Picture [or whatever type object] where you
can apply the wrapping, set positioning parameters & specify the degree of
rotation more accurately.

There's also the new rotate handle, it's a green button on a stalk extending
from the selection border of your picture. If you hover over it, the cursor
changes from arrow to hand, then just grab it and rotate it to any degree
you wish!
