Round and round....

I am a new user to Access and I am about to lose my mind with this database I
am creating. If anyone can help, see if you can follow what I am talking
about and let me know if it is even possible.

I have two tables. One is a product inventory that contains all of the
information (ID, PM schedule [annual, semi, etc], PM date, etc). Table two
is a daily job tracking table that is loaded with yes/no boxes (annual, semi,
tests, etc), date entry, and tool id.

I would like to be able to update a specific tool id with a new PM schedule
date based off whether or not the yes/no pm boxes are true using the date
entered on the daily tracking form plus the necessary time frame (6 months, 4
months, 1 year).

Any ideas? At this point I would accept even something halfway right!

Table 1 contains all information concerning the inventory of my plant. These
items are identified by their TOOL ID, PM FREQUENCY, and PM DUE DATE. Other
identifiers are not considered in the maintenance frequency (Serial #'s,
Manufacturer, Tracker #'s, etc.).

Table 2 uses the TOOL ID to log any information about that tool (DATE, TOOL
ID,
TECH, TYPE, Y/N TROUBLESHOOT, Y/N TURN ON/OFF, Y/N SEIZED, Y/N SEMIANNUAL
PM, Y/N ANNUAL PM, etc.).

When Table 2 Y/N SEMIANNUAL PM or Y/N ANNUAL PM is updated via Form 2, I
would like for Table 1 PM DUE DATE to be updated using the date on Form 2
plus the required time period.

My thought processes on this are to allow a single form to be used to update
certain information so that I do not have to allow access to my main
inventory and to prevent any confusion about how to update a record. If I
have to enter two forms to update information I could see where that would
lead my co-workers down a path of incompetence.
