When competing hypotheses are otherwise equal, adopt the hypothesis that
introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the

Suppose I have this:
A1 B1 C1
257 20 12.85 (C1 has =A1/B1)
I cannot see how formatting can give 12.00 - I can see how it could give 13
(with no decimals)
What formula are you using?
best wishes

I wonder whether you might have been using the QUOTIENT function instead of
dividing?
If you don't know what the QUOTIENT function does, look it up in Excel help.
If you want to divide A1 by A2, use the slant sign / to divide, so =A1/A2.
