Row & Column Headings

B

Bob

Hello,

Using Excel 2007

Is there any way to get the column heading to be A, B, C, etc., rather
than numbers like 1,2, 3,... ?

I have numbers for my rows And for the columns.

Am in my 70's now, and I may not be remembering correctly, so I may be
wrong about this, but didn't I have (always) letters for the Column
designations ?

Thanks,
Bob

It's a user choice.

And excel keeps track of your choice by using the setting for the first workbook
you opened in that session.

In xl2003 menus:
Tools|Options|General tab
uncheck R1C1 Reference style

In xl2007:
Office button|Excel Options|Formulas|Working with formulas
uncheck R1C1 Reference style

Hi Bob
Yes you're correct, you need to go change it but I only know Excel 2003
settings.
It's in > Tools > Options >Tab General > unselect R1C1 Reference style.
Hope you can figure it out, if not someone will comme with the proper answer.
