Row number in a query as in Excel

Dear all
I need a equation (or method) to introduce in aqyery the current row number
in such a way ,the qyery generstes consequtive numbers.
Iknow it is possible in report(field=1 and runnig sum) but i need it in
query not report.
In excel its simple , just =row() in Oracle it is alled "rownum" but I can't
find a way in access ALthought I believe it is possible because the record
selector in the query display the rownumer.
