Rows & Columns for Formula's

Microsofts tutor lessions are not working well but what I saw is telling me that the columns shoud be Alpha. They are not - they are numerical. Also, How can I get a one page spread sheet rather than several pages showing.

Plus, since the tutorials are not working, where can I find training in putting in even simple formula's. What is working in my cells is not what I put in them. But they work.

Obviously, I am totally new with the Mac but am quite familiar with Excel for the PC.

Go to Excel preferences, general tab, and uncheck use R1C1 references.

You can get a single page by going to page layout view. The right icon at
the bottom left of the worksheet window. However, depending on your screen
resolution, size of the Excel window, more than one page may show. Why do
you want only one page to show?
If you are familiar with Windows Excel, MOST everything in Mac Excel is the
same. Look in help under keyboard shortcuts for differences in the key
strokes. Formulas are identical.

You've raised several points so I'll reply in line below;

If you mean the Headings at the top of the columns, the Prefernces are set
for R1C1. To change that go to Excel> Preferences> Calculation & clear the
check for "R1C1 reference style"
Also, How can I get a one page spread sheet rather than several pages
showing.

You're in the default view called Page Layout View. Use the buttons at the
bottom left of the window or use the View menu to switch to Normal View. To
set Normal as the default view use the Excel> Preferences> View dialog.
Plus, since the tutorials are not working, where can I find training in

I honestly don't understand this point... Can you restate it more clearly?
Formulas in Mac Excel are entered exactly the same way as in the Windows
versions.
Obviously, I am totally new with the Mac but am quite familiar with Excel
for the PC.

Keep in mind that in the Mac world Preferences are the equivalent of Options
in Windows apps.

That should be Excel> Preferences> General
You're in the default view called Page Layout View. Use the buttons at the

set Normal as the default view use the Excel> Preferences> View dialog.

That establishes the default view for new sheets.

Maybe you are asking how do you get one page printout? Same as on the PC
File, Page Setup, Page tab, fit 1 page wide by 1 page tall.

Formulas work exactly like they do on the PC, nothing is different except
for some new features in 2007 which are not available on the Mac 2004 nor
2008 versions.
