royalty costs ( avoiding visio royalties )

If I embed Visio in my product what are
the royalty costs for Visio.

If you use Visio in your app, users must also
purchase a license for Visio ( or you can purchase
for them - ouch ! expensive ). Basically they
will need Visio on their machine.

For an alternative drawing / diagramming control that
does not require royalties take a look at MetaDraw
at www.Bennet-Tec.com.

The only costs for MetaDraw are for the programmer(s) working
on the project. There are NO end-user licensing fees, no royalties,
no distribution costs when you build a compiled
( .EXE) application or a web page which uses MetaDraw.

Users will need Visio installed on the machine. This is true for both the
standalone Visio application as well as the Visio ActiveX drawing surface.
You can install Visio silently as part of your application if desired. But
the basic answer is that you or the user must have a full product license
for Visio Standard.
