Hello Dave,
I have reproduced the issue in Word XP, Word 2003 and Word 2007. Below is
my repro-steps.
1. create a neew Word document, and add a table with only one cell into it.
2. set the cell's margin as: top: 0.1cm, left: 1cm, bottom: 2cm, right: 3cm.
3. save the document as RTF format and open it in Notepad.exe
4. it shows: \clpadl57\clpadt567\clpadb1134\clpadr1701for the cell.
According to the Word 2003 RTF spec
(
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ac57de32-17f0-4b46
-9e4e-467ef9bc5540) P63, \clpadlN is Left cell margin or padding. and
\clpadtN is Top cell margin or padding. As you said, it seems that the
value of \clpadl57 and \clpadt567 is switched. I have reported this issue
to the product team to let them check it. I will get back to you as soon as
possible. Thank you for your patience and the great feedback!
Sincerely,
Jialiang Ge (

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
