RTF Format

When I open some .tpl files in my PHP based forum Front Page converts the
file to rtf format. It then creates a new page with a html ext. How can I
stop this so I can edit the file preview it etc. in Frnt page?

Select to open the file in the text editor (notepad) under Configure Editors.

Then you are going to need to open/edit the file in the application that created it.

A .tpl file is an "Access Workflow Designer" file and the .tpl extension
isn't even listed in the configure editors dropdown in FrontPage Tools > Options.

If you created them in FP, what mode were you using when you created them?
Have you added the .tpl extension in configure editors and told FP how to open the file?

FP is set up to open the .tpl file as html. Before installing activesync all
went fine and i could create the .tpl files without any problem.

Yes, and Frontpage is converting the tpl into RTF without asking me when I
open such a document.

Hi,

I had worked with another user having the same issue. I would suggest you
refer to http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/FPConversion.html. Note that it was
written a long time ago when an older version of ActiveSync was available.
If you are using a newer version of ActiveSync, let me know the version you
have installed. You might need to disable them in the registry then since
it auto-repairs the files that you disable as explained in the article.

Hello Raj,

thank you. I know that solution - and it worked in the past. But with the
actual version of ActiveSync, their is automatically a self-repair started
once ActiveSync is used and the removed files are restored back.

Hi,

Try disabling the path in the following keys in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text
Converters\Import\MSInkWriter

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text
Converters\Import\MSInkWriterTemplate

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text
Converters\Import\MSPocketInkWord

The string value for "Path" would be pointing to the path of "pwiofcnv.dll".
Edit the path and and make it look like "pwiofcnv.dllold". Basically
pointing it to an invalid file.

Let me know if it helps.
