RTM Outlook 2007 crashes using Instant Search

RTM Outlook 2007 (upgrade from 2003) was all working with Instant Search.
Then it started crashing every time I tried to search "Outlook has
encountered an error"

Tombstone in event viewer is: event ID 1000
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.4518.1014, stamp 4542840f,
faulting module mspst32.dll, version 12.0.4518.1014, stamp 45428111, debug?
0, fault address 0x000990e7.

Searching mail from Desktop search works OK

XP SP2 - nothing wierd
I have:
Run SCANOST and PST on my files
Reindexed (I think)
Uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Desktop Search 3.0
Run the Office Diagnostic and Repair
Disabled unwanted COM ADD-Ins

Any ideas?

There are a couple of possibly related issues:
Sometimes outlook 2007 does not start successfully first time
Outlook 2007 seems very poor at recovering from lost connections when I move
from LAN to wireless. Looks a bit like
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/289971 but never had the issue
on outlook 2003

I managed to fix this.
Looked at event viewer. The failing DLL name gave a clue to look at the PSTs
again.
I excluded each one in turn until search worked. One particular PST was the
issue, even after another PSTCHECK
I have archived all of the email out of that PST into a new one and dropped
the failing one. Search is now OK.

I do notice that Instant Serach is not supported with Exchange 2003 at back
end - see
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...bc02-4dcf-bd7b-3dec3854aa811033.mspx?mfr=true

On the connection front: I read that recreating the account on the client
side using 2007 (original was set up in OL 2003) improved it. Not convinced -
needs to be fixed.
